One Tree: In Search of Stradivari's Sibling Violins: A quest and a radio story, this 30-minute piece for Australia's public broadcaster ABC RN seeks to reunite some of the 22(!) violins carved from a single tree by the legendary Antonio Stradivari.
CNN's The Assignment with Audie Cornish: Through sound design and mixing, David Schulman created the distinctive soundworld for new podcast from the longtime host of NPR's All Things Considered. The Assignment charted on Apple podcasts as the #2 news commentary podcast and hit the top 10 news podcasts during its first season, Nov. 2022-Feb. 2023. David scored, mixed and mastered almost every episode of The Assignment's first two seasons.
"Alone with J.S. Bach," for ABC RN (Australia), awarded Special Mention at the 2021 Prix Italia, judged in competition with the top radio music programs of the year entered by national broadcasters from 17 countries, including Britain's BBC, Canada's CBC, Germany's ARD, Denmark's DR, Ireland's RTÉ, Italy's RAI, and Radio France. This 30-minute radio doc explores the pandemic-era resonance of Bach's six Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin, and features interviews with five of today's most dynamic violinists — Augustin Hadelich, Jennifer Koh, Johnny Gandelsman, Rachel Podger, and Stanley Ritchie.
Sound design and audio production for "Live From Mount Olympus," created entirely virtually. The podcast's first season was featured on Good Morning America, nominated for a Webby Award, and called "brilliant" by New York Magazine. In The New York Times, Maya Phillips called the series "delightful" and praised David Schulman's sound design as "appropriately cartoonish."
